As specialized night tour providers, we grant rare access to Merapi's dramatic after-dark activity. Your expert driver/guide will escort you to secure observation points - including historic bunkers and monitoring towers - while sharing fascinating volcanic insights.

Enhance your adventure with our optional Bukit Turgo add-on: Hike to 1,000m for sunrise vistas over Merapi and Yogyakarta, followed by privileged lava viewing from this prime vantage point. The second option is Gubug Merapi Arum Sari, the location is easier (without trekking up the hill)

Mount Merapi Night Lava Tour Itinerary

• 10:00 PM: Pickup from your Yogyakarta hotel in a shared air-conditioned van.

• 11:15 PM: Arrive at Gubug Merapi basecamp. Enjoy a welcome drink (local coffee/tea) and safety briefing.

• 11:45 PM – 12:30 AM: First lava viewing session! Visit historic lava bunkers and observation points with your guide. Witness Merapi’s eruptions from safe, designated zones.

• 12:30 AM – 1:15 AM: Savor local snacks (lemper, fried bananas) + coffee/tea while soaking in volcanic vistas.

• 1:30 AM – 2:45 AM: Second lava viewing at prime locations. Capture fiery eruptions with your phone (guides assist with best angles!).

• 2:45 AM: Return transport to Yogyakarta.

• ~3:45 AM: Hotel drop-off.
